“The wisdom of this world is foolishness to God” (3:19 NLT)
The verse has two equally valid meanings:
Meaning #1
Religious values are different than society’s values. For example, religion cares about the pursuit of happiness, but most people care about the pursuit of money.
Meaning #2
Sometimes, you are right, and God is wrong. However, God **hates** to admit God’s errors. In such situations, God will try a plethora of ways to wiggle out of acting responsibly. One example–as this verse indicates, God will blame your “lack of understanding”.
If you are self-confident, you should not compromise your position. God, though, can be an obnoxiously hard-headed mule. You may wait your entire lifetime without results.
