Sign, sign, everywhere a sign

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” (3:16 NAS)

Because most stadiums and arenas receive financial support from the government, an ordinance will probably soon outlaw “John 3:16″ signs at sporting events (just like nativity scenes and the word Christmas have been banned from other public venues).

My main problem with “John 3:16″ signs–they seem so “out of place”.  I’ve always wanted to ask the guy holding the sign, “Hey, don’t you even care about the game?  Did you just come here to give us an eye-banging, or are you hoping to get your face on television for 5 seconds?”

At a minimum, the guy could pick a more appropriate verse for the fierce competition and intense rivalry of a sporting event.  How about . . .

Alright, maybe that’s a little excessive.  How about . . .
