“When you talk to God, do not say words that mean nothing, over and over again. People who do not believe in God do that. They think their god will hear them because they say many words” (Matthew 6:7 Worldwide English [New Testament])
Maybe this verse unfairly attempts to blame us for the fact that God ignores most prayers.
Certainly, many of the millions who died in Hitler’s concentration camps poured their heart and soul into prayer, but God evidently cared about more-pressing matters elsewhere.
==========
God and I have serious disagreements right now. God knows that God is wrong, but God is too chicken to do the right thing.
Me? Pray? I refuse to talk to the jerk!
In such cases, alternatives to prayer do exist:
1. Get a dog and talk to it.
Why do you think dogs are referred to as “man’s best friend”? Because they are great listeners!
2. Take a walk in nature and talk to it
( . . . but be careful that somebody doesn’t overhear you. People can understand talking to your dog; they may raise their eyebrow if they see you apparently talking to yourself”
)
3. As we always tell our children, “You can talk with Mommy and Daddy about anything“.
